Description

Similar species
External features which distinguish Phyllidia rueppelii from other species of Phyllidia include its white and yellow-orange tubercles, white marginal semicircles, and, in particular, the yellow-orange edge to the mantle. In contrast, Phyllidiopsis bayi (Bouchet, 1983) is white to cream in colour with fine, pale brown markings. Phyllidia guamensis (Brunckhorst, 1993) differs in having paler yellow coloration, numerous small tubercles around the mantle margin, and in lacking white semicircles or yellow-orange coloration on the mantle edge.
