Fête du Boeuf le 27 octobre 2013 à Païta - Nouvelle-Calédonie.
Chaque année, la ville de Païta (Nouvelle-Calédonie) organise la fête du bœuf : ambiance broussarde et country avec au programme baignade d'un troupeau, dépeçage d'un veau à l'ancienne (marquage, castration), jeux équestres, concours du plus gros mangeur de couilles de veau et grand rodéo.
Bull riding - La monte à cru d'un taureau
Dans cette épreuve le cowboy doit se maintenir pendant huit secondes à l'aide d'une seule main entourée au bull rope (corde tressée a plat). Cette corde auquelle est attachée une cloche entoure le corps du taureau. Comme dans le bareback le cowboy ne doit à aucun moment toucher l'équipement, l'animal ou lui même de sa main libre. Il n'est pas nécessaire que le cowboy éperonne le taureau mais, s'il le fait, les juges lui accorderont un meilleur score. Là encore Le cow-boy qui sera en accord parfait avec sa monture obtiendra le meilleur score. Une fois le temps écoulé le cow-boy se libère de la corde et saute tant bien que mal de l'animal, c'est à ce moment qu'intervient le clown afin de détourner l'attention du taureau permettant ainsi au cow-boy de se dégager en toute sécurité.

A rider mounts a bull and grips a flat braided rope. After he secures a good grip on the rope, the rider nods to signal he is ready. The bucking chute (a small enclosure which opens from the side) is opened and the bull storms out into the arena. The rider must attempt to stay on the bull for at least eight seconds, while only touching the bull with his riding hand. His other hand must remain free for the duration of the ride. The bull bucks, rears, kicks, spins, and twists in an effort to throw the rider off. This continues for a number of seconds until the rider bucks off or dismounts after completing his ride. Many experienced professionals are able to earn scores of 75 or more. Scores above 80 are considered excellent, and a score in the 90s exceptional. Judges award points based on several key aspects of the ride. Judges look for constant control and rhythm in the rider in matching his movements with the bull. Points are usually deducted if a rider is constantly off balance. For points actually to be awarded the rider must stay mounted for a minimum of 8 seconds, and he is scored only for actions during those 8 seconds. The ability to control the bull well allows riders to gain extra "style" points. These are often gained by spurring the animal.
